Moats and 20” walls: The latest in Alderaan’s space-age static defense technology.
My new Trooper is sad. Presumably because his colleagues call him, “kid” and say that being transferred to Havoc squad “at his age” is an honor.
Finally got around to posting some images of my main, a bounty hunter (Mercenary) named Rayin like all my other primary characters in RPGs since Star Wars Galaxies, ironically.
He’s currently sitting at L45 as my crippling alt-itis means I’ve got characters all over the place - my Sith Warrior I posted last week is L27, for example - and still working on finishing Voss. Because Sith corruption on a non-Sith genuinely annoys the hell out of me, the fact Rayin is Dark V isn’t immediately obvious in these screenshots. This guy is all about the credits and is aggressively misanthropic, which on more than one occasion has led poor Mako to say things like, “You’re a monster” and “I think I’m going to be sick.” Good thing that girl likes her cheap, shiny trinkets!
Wish I had more action shots, but I only started taking screenshots of my characters. Story wise, I don’t actually find bounty hunter all that entertaining. It’s a bit too episodic, but given the nature of the profession I’m not sure what else they could have done. You get a couple bounties, you kill them, get a couple more, you kill them… etc. The story finally had an interesting turn that made me go, “Ooh, I wonder what’s going to happen now!” at, well, L45 on Voss. The rest, while fun in parts, was predictable and more than a bit repetitive. Not so, I hear, for the other classes in the Empire.
Still the sheer damage this guy puts out with a near-full Arsenal build is obscene, making leveling - when I focus on it - pretty quick and easy. Plus bounty hunters definitely get the best (mechanically) companion in the game, and they get her first. A lot of other classes have to wait for a healbot, not us! We also get Blizz, a fucking Jawa who is awesome. So I’d say the deficiencies in the story when compared to the other classes are more than balanced by the rest of the game.
The alt I’m playing the most now.
Rana and her hilarious “heavy armor.” Always liked the combination of that hair and scar.
It’s fun playing a Light side Sith, because they seem to come off as being less about ideology (the Sith code and whatnot, complete with their obsession with malice and violence) and more about getting the best, most reasonable result with the least amount of risk.
Behold!
Farouk and his stache
(will post the others if/when I get a screenshot I like)
Oh, SWTOR
Playing on my Sith Juggernaut alt (female) and doing a sidequest involving a somewhat slimy bartender who let’s shall we say, gets around. After threatening his life if he doesn’t leave the planet, here’s what he says:
Guy (subtitle): ”For you? Anything.”
Guy (actual VA): ”For you sweetie, I’ll come anywhere you want.”
Success
Guildie in Mumble: “Did you deliberately base your character design on [Jason Momoa]?”
Me: “YES. MISSION FUCKING ACCOMPLISHED SOMEONE RECOGNIZES IT.”
How to hit the ground running in SWTOR and other useful tips
Right when you start the game, head off to the spaceport and get a ride to your fleet. Pick up the crew skills mission from the terminal, and go around talking to every crew skills trainer to get the exp and pick which ever three you want. This should level you up to 4 instantly, and allow you go start leveling your gathering skills on the starter planet.
Livestreaming Star Wars: The Old Republic
The SWTOR Beta for both weekend testers and cool people like myself will end in a little over 12 hours. As a sort of last weekend hurrah before the servers go down until retail, I’m going to try and stream as much of the rest of the day as possible.
Given what characters I have at my disposal, the following is on the table for showing off:
* Coruscant (Smuggler, past L10)
* Dromund Kaas (Sith Warrior, past L10)
* Talos (Jedi Knight and Jedi Consular, both L1)
* Nal Hutta (Imperial Agent and Bounty Hunter, both L1)
The only classes and location I will not play are the Trooper and Sith Inquisitor, as I have already completed - and streamed - Ord Mantell and Korriban.
Since I have two characters - one of each faction - past the starter world I will also see if I can get into the first flashpoint for both sides and demonstrate how they work.
So… I’ll be starting the stream in a few minutes - right after I’m done making coffee - and will probly be going all day even before people start showing up. If you do follow me, and are interested in watching, please reblog as this will as far as I know be the last chance for anyone to see live gameplay, aside from whatever BioWare releases, until release day.
ffff, if only it weren’t 1am.

No fear, I still want to be online when they close down (in about…11 and a half hours) to see if they do anything amusing so… when you wake up I’ll still be online shooting at or slicing things.
…either that or I’ve given up and started showing MST3K for the lulz.
